Ever dreamt of performing jaw-dropping stunts in the open sky? It's possible at Sky Combat Ace. We offer a unique concept — the opportunity for passengers to get a first-hand view of what it’s like to fly aerobatic airplanes.
In this blog, we'll explore the world of aerobatic flight experiences so you can be as prepared as possible to climb aboard one of our planes.
Aerobatics is the practice of flying aircraft maneuvers that are not used in normal flight. It's the dazzling world of loops, spins, and rolls in the sky.
A key skill in aerobatics, the ability to fly a plane upside down, was first showcased by French test pilot Adolphe Pégoud for Louis Blériot on September 1, 1913.
Aerobatic maneuvers are performed for training, recreation, entertainment, and sport. They're not just about the thrill, however. They also improve piloting skills like precision and control.
When you sign up for an aerobatic flight experience, you're in for an adventure that combines excitement with skill-building.
Virtually anyone with a sense of adventure can experience the thrill of aerobatic flights! Here's who can join:
At Sky Combat Ace, there are no age limits, but participants must weigh between 80 lbs (36 kg) and 265 lbs (120 kg), be no taller than 6'6" (201 cm), and wear shoes, socks, and a warm jacket in winter for the Extra 330 flight experience.
Even those without any prior flying experience can participate in this breathtaking activity, as you'll be guided by experienced instructors and given a thorough safety briefing before you take off.
We have three flight locations for you to choose from:
Whether you're a Nevada local or an out-of-towner, our main Las Vegas location, conveniently situated near the Las Vegas Strip, is a must-visit. For a hassle-free and exciting journey, we provide free transport from most hotels in Las Vegas, ensuring everyone can join in the thrill.
At our Sky Combat Ace Tahoe hub, you'll glide over North America's largest alpine lake, catching glimpses of Fallen Leaf Lake and Cascade Lake as you fly over Emerald Bay. Your exciting flight will take you through the Sierras, offering stunning views of Lake Tahoe.
There are few places as beautiful as San Diego for taking to the skies. During your aerobatic flight experience, feast your eyes on the stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, the charming La Jolla Cove, the iconic Coronado Bridge, and perhaps even catch a glimpse of the historic USS Midway Aircraft Carrier.
If you've never tried an aerobatic flight before, you may have questions about what to expect and what you should know before booking.
Here are some of the most helpful things to know before you book your flight with us:
Each of our exhilarating experiences spans a total of three hours. You'll want to make sure you arrive early so you can check in and complete your safety briefing.
We offer flights on two distinct aircraft: the Extra 330LC, a high-performance aerobatic plane with a top speed of 253 mph and virtually limitless capabilities, and the Super Decathlon 8KCAB, ideal for basic aerobatics and those preferring a milder thrill.
When you sign up for our Afterburner, Sky Combat, or Top Gun packages, you fly the plane. It's built with carbon fiber for safety and is capable of performing extreme aerobatic maneuvers, making it easy for even beginners to learn the basics.
If you're not ready to take the plunge into piloting an aerobatic flight, our Operation Recon experience lets you sit back while we fly the maneuvers, which is perfect for getting a feel for the experience.
Whether you're an adrenaline junkie seeking your next thrill or just looking for unique, fun things to do, our expert stunt pilots are ready to guide you.
From the glitz and glamor of Las Vegas to the serene beauty of Lake Tahoe and the coastal charm of San Diego, Sky Combat Ace is sure to give you an experience like no other.
